THE LARGEST, MOST ESTABLISHED DESIGN EVENT SPONSORED BY A PAPER COMPANY IN THE U.S. RETURNS TO ITS HOMETOWN FOR A ONE-DAY PUBLIC EXHIBITION
[Cohoes, NY – January 23, 2013] – The Mohawk Show, an international design competition developed by Cohoes-based Mohawk to celebrate extraordinary graphic design and print communications produced on Mohawk paper, will visit the Capital Region on January 31, 2013, for the first time in its twelve-year history.
The exhibition will be held on Thursday, January 31, at The Foundry for Art Design + Culture, 119 Remsen Street, Cohoes. A free, public reception will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served and copies of the Mohawk Show 12 catalog will be available to attendees.
The annual Mohawk Show competition honors the impact of the graphic design industry and the important role that design plays in culture. The exhibit showcases the best print work from top designers around the world, and allows printers and designers a chance to catch the eye of their peers and potential clients.
Entries are reviewed by an esteemed panel of jurors and judged on the basis of higher thinking in graphic design, excellence in print production, and appropriate paper choice. The Mohawk Show 12 jury includes: chair Stanley Hainsworth, Tether, Inc., Seattle; Jorge Alderete, Illustrator, Mexico City; Michael Jager, JDK Design, Burlington, VT; and Susana Rodriguez de Tembleque, SY Partners, San Francisco.
Following the announcement of the winners each year, the exhibit travels throughout North America attracting designers, printers and design students. Following the January 31 stop in Cohoes, the exhibition will travel to Australia, China and Europe.
