What is paperboard?

Paperboard is a thick paper or paper-based material. While there is no rigid differentiation between paper and paperboard, paperboard is generally thicker (usually over 12 points in caliper) than your average sheet of paper and has certain superior attributes such as foldability and rigidity. Paperboard can be easily cut and formed, is lightweight, and because it is strong, is used in packaging. Another use for paperboard is high-quality graphic printing, such as book and magazine covers or postcards.

And because we care about the environment and are committed to a sustainable future, we source pulp from sustainable forests, we use recycled fiber, we conserve water, and we harness wind power for our mills’ electrical energy. If you can't find the right paper in our extensive portfolio, you can mix and match from our existing colors, textures and basis weight range to create something special. We can also make custom colors, special textures, unique basis weights, and specific sheet sizes to maximize manufacturing yield efficiencies and build the perfect paper for your next project.
