Since 2013, Kiss the Ground has been working to create awareness around the importance of healthy soil, and to encourage widespread action. Their mission is all about regenerative agriculture, which involves growing crops in ways that protect the ecosystem instead of depleting its resources.

And it’s not just for farmers and serious gardeners—Kiss the Ground is for everyone. The movement picked up speed with a 2017 book, followed by a 2020 documentary film narrated by Woody Harrelson, which is available to stream on Netflix. In 2021, the nonprofit published its inaugural RE:GENERATE magazine.

There are a variety of ways to support Kiss the Ground’s cause. Enroll in one of their online courses for gardeners who want to learn about regenerative agriculture, or become a “Soil Advocate” with in-depth knowledge of the topic. Kiss the Ground also offers scholarships and trainings for farmers. And for those inspired but not green-thumbed, there’s always financial support—memberships start at $5 monthly.
