This project is centered on creating packaging that legal documents would be shipped and stored in. Trust & Will saw the printed documents as an opportunity to make a lasting impression with unexpected design.

The package — inspired by Maker Quarterly Issue No. 14, Issue No. 15 & the Keaykolour Paper Selector — is entirely constructed of Keaykolour and was designed to be a carrier for multiple 9x12 folders meant to hold users' documents.

For this project, Brian wanted to keep all papers to the same one-color offset print. “I wanted to use a deep navy to align with our brand” Brian claimed. “It worked beautifully on the Azure and Baltic — really popping off the paper color.”

Everything is printed with PMS 288. Neyenesch, located in San Diego, worked through all of the details with Brian making numerous ink drawdowns to find the right color.  They tried lots of different options, including some metallic and silver base with solid color on top and ultimately arrived at a single color application.

“The Matcha, Old Rose and Indian Yellow were a little trickier,” Brian admits. “We did numerous ink drawdowns and tests, and ultimately arrived on PMS 288, which wasn’t too purple on Old Rose and not too muddy on Matcha—still looked blue.”

The blue of PMS 288 proved to be most challenging on Indian Yellow, and while Brian considered straying from the color altogether, ultimately they made a last-minute call to keep it.

“On press day, Indian Yellow was the last paper we were running. I had the pressman run a sample of 288 on Indian Yellow while we were running Old Rose and it looked great!”
